Manager of Projects and Development - SEDC, San Diego, CA
The Southeastern Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) San Diego, CA - is a public non-profit corporation established by the City of San Diego and is responsible for all redevelopment activities occurring in the 7.2 mile area immediately east of downtown. SEDC is currently seeking a qualified Manager of Projects and Development to assist with the development and implementation of specific community redevelopment programs. The Manager of Projects and Development oversees and manages the daily operations of the Projects and Development Division. This individual must possess strong communication, written skills and have the ability to prepare and administer the division’s budget.

Manager of Projects and Development

The Manager of Projects and Development position requires a minimum of seven years as a Sr. Planner or Project Manager (with a minimum of five years as a supervisor). A Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, architecture or closely related field is required. The salary for this position is $75,000 to $100,000 annually DOQ and the corporation offers a generous benefits package.

Senior Urban Designer - Urban Design Studio / RBF, Carlsbad, CA

• Conduct urban design studies utilizing hand-drawing techniques, AutoCAD and/or other computer-based modeling.
• Author products, scopes of work, budgets and schedules.
• Provide mentorship to emerging young professionals.
• Identify and secure new opportunities.
• Strategically collaborate with the Director of Urban Design Studio, Southern California (Irvine) and the Planning department of the San Diego Office.

Department Head: Landscape Architecture / Regional and Community Planning - Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS
The Department of Landscape Architecture / Regional and Community Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University invites applications or nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning. Candidates for the position should be accomplished scholars in landscape architecture or planning as evidenced by journal publications, conference presentations, and professional portfolio. Candidates shall qualify for tenure at senior rank based upon a record of teaching, service, scholarly, creative and/or professional work recognized at the national level. A minimum of three years experience in sponsored research programs and publication is expected as is the PhD related to planning or landscape architecture or a Master’s in landscape architecture or planning with professional registration/licensure. Candidates shall possess at least two years of administrative experience as well as significant skill in communication, consensus building, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience and affiliation with APA, AICP, CELA, and/or ASLA are desirable.

The Department Head will be expected to: contribute to the teaching mission of the department, participate in college and university governance, practice scholarship in keeping with departmental and college goals, competently manage the financial resources of the department while adhering to KS Board of Regents policies, and champion diversity, gender equity, and fair treatment for all. Key responsibilities of the Department Head include: assignment of faculty and staff workloads, evaluation of performance of faculty and staff according to university regulations, and the facilitation of continuous curriculum review and development. The successful candidate must serve as an unfailing advocate for the Department, providing leadership, support, and positive development for all faculty, students, and staff.

The first professional degrees offered in Landscape Architecture or Regional and Community Planning at Kansas State University are master’s degrees. Our programs in Landscape Architecture (MLA) and Regional and Community Planning (MRCP) provide the opportunity for a student to obtain a master’s degree either as a non-baccalaureate or a post-baccalaureate student. Additionally, the program faculty participates with other Departments in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design to offer the common first-year Environmental Design Studies program as well as the interdisciplinary PhD in Environmental Design and Planning. The Department of Landscape Architecture / Regional and Community Planning has 21 faculty and two staff and is one of three departments in the college, the others being the Department of Architecture and the Department of Interior Architecture and Product Design.
